Meet JJ --
Hey there! I’m JJ, a queer therapist with a background spanning child advocacy centers, higher levels of care, and federal service. My approach is educational, relational, and direct. I bring my full self to every session and demonstrate why presence is an underrated therapeutic tool.
My wheelhouse is trauma; I support survivors and the people who love them.
Specifically supporting survivors of sexual abuse, rape, and trafficking, alongside teens and young adults navigating self-harm, suicidal ideation, and high expectations. I work with humans who are ready to actually dig in, not just manage symptoms. I prioritize building real skills first, then going deeper when you’re ready. Every person I work with is different, and I tailor my approach accordingly.
I pull from attachment-based frameworks, EMDR, DBT, ACT, CPT, and parts work (IFS and ego state informed). This is based on whatever fits you, not the other way around. I’m a lifelong learner and I’m always adding to my toolkit.
Outside the therapy room you’ll find me deep in a good book, spinning on ice, thrifting, tending to my plants, or taking long walks with my partner and geriatric husky mix, Leo, who has not been informed of his age.
If you’re an adolescent or adult looking for a therapist who’s warm but won’t sugarcoat things, I’d love to chat and see if we’d be a good fit!
